Man Films Discovery Of Abandoned Blockbuster Store

Remember ye old days of picking out your favourite Lindsay Lohan movie at a DVD rental shop (or even video, if you’re that old)? Well one video claims to show an abandoned US Blockbuster store that’s been preserved surprisingly well. Almost…too well.

The videographer, whose cryptic Youtube name is RubarGar _, enters the unlocked store, only to find that the shelves are fully stocked with DVDs and video games. The disks are even still in their boxes. Creepy music plays over the man’s hushed exclamation that ‘it’s like it hasn’t been touched by time…can you believe it?’

There are, however, ‘noticeable’ signs of decay; water damage on ceiling tiles, dust on the floor, and chipped paint on the walls. Kudos to the intrepid explorer for braving such a perilous wasteland.

You may get a cold chill when RubarGar _ discovers that the store’s freezers are not only on, but fully stocked with fresh ice creams (cue flashbacks of every zombie apocalypse movie you’ve ever seen). After almost four minutes of this unbearable tension, the videographer reveals that – you guessed it – the Blockbuster store isn’t closed at all, and he’s actually an employee.

But all Blockbusters closed in the middle ages, right? Yes, most of them did (around 2013 actually), but it’s estimated that 50 franchise locations are still open in the US. People who live in places with bad signal apparently still rent physical DVDs, probably to pass the time while they’re spinning yarn.
