Have we reached selfie-saturation point, yet? I hope so. But then it seemed like we had when we heard about the girl who took one with a dead body and then the one with a plane crash and then the #aftersex selfies. Hell, people have actually died taking extreme selfies which is both concerning and tragic. So I think it's pretty clear that the selfie is going no where.
But then, maybe this will bit of news will finally curb our selfie appetites. According to Jezebel, medical professionals are seeing an increase in cases of lice in teenagers, and they reckon it could be to do with the selfie obsession.
Speaking to WBAY, Pediatrician Dr Sharon Rink said that she'd seen an increase in teenagers experiencing an itchy scalp, which she never saw five years ago. She went on to say that, 'Teenagers don’t usually get lice because they’re not sharing hats and things like that. And lice can’t jump, so the only way they can transmit lice is touching their heads together, and that’s happening with all these photos.'
She recommends keeping a little distance between you and your friends heads when taking a selfie, just in case one of them has lice.
So there we go; as well as poor self-esteem, selfies are giving us lice. Score.
