Even in this day and age, if you’re getting married and you’ve had kids, lived with your partner before marrying them, or, god forbid, had sex out of wedlock, there comes a point where might question how appropriate it is to wear a white gown. But that seemed to be far from Shona Carter-Brooks’s mind when she walked the aisle in Jackson, Tennessee.
That’s because the bride found a special way of working her history into her train, adding a little something special to her Vera Wang dress in the form of her one-month-old daughter.
Aubrey – the daughter she had with now-husband Johnathan Brooks, was photographed in the train of Shona’s dress, appearing to be sewn in to the fabric. The photo did the rounds and received a lot of negative comments, with some saying her actions amount to child abuse. Shona’s not bowing to the haters, though, saying that her newborn was ‘awake and well-secured’ and ‘covered by Christ.’
In a lengthy Facebook post reported by Buzzfeed, Shona hit out at the haters: ‘People questioning what we do, commenting all negative, and just doing the most. We good though we covered by the Blood which never loose its power.[ sic]’
(‘the Blood’ meaning god, by the way)
She continued: ‘Regardless the situation or purpose people gone have something negative to say! The answer is we do what we want when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine. Our one month old was awake and well secured on my train. [sic]’
No explanation as to why she actually did it, though. Maybe just to keep Aubrey comfy? At the very least, you know she hit on a sure way to make sure no-one trod on her train.
