In today’s gruesome shoe news, a Texan woman has received a life sentence for killing her boyfriend with her stiletto.

45-year-old Ana Trujillo was found guilty of murder on Tuesday last week, after using the five-inch heel of her shoe to stab her partner, Alf Stefan Andersson, to death. She was sentenced to life imprisonment by a jury who took four hours to decide her fate.

Andersson was found with 25 stiletto wounds to his face and neck inside his flat in Houston, suggesting it was a sustained and violent attack. However, on the witness stand, Ms Trujillo said she ‘never wanted to kill’ her boyfriend.

‘I never meant to hurt him,’ Trujillo said. ‘It was never my intent. I loved him. I wanted to get away. I never wanted to kill him.’

Despite the attempts of defence lawyers to convince the court that Ms Trujillo was acting in self defence, the jury came to the decision that this was not a crime of passion. Had they thought otherwise, Trujillo would not serve more than 20 years in prison.
