Last weekend, a woman called Deborah did a bad thing. After being refused entry to Weston-Super-Mare's The Loft nightclub for being too drunk, she went on a horribly racist rant.
The rant was really quite something. Reported by The Bristol Post, it is claimed she said, ''Too p*****? Assumed buy (sic) a god dam foreigner? In my country? England!!!! Born in Somerset… and told I am too w***d by some olive coloured T!'
Charming.
She also said that she didn't like being 'Dictacted (her spelling) to by some olive coloured f***** a*****' especially because she is a 'WHITE, BRITISH FEMALE... NATIONAL FRONT? Here I come!!!'
'NOT IN MY COUNTRY MATE! NOT IN MY HOME TOWN!!!'
Oh Deborah.
The Loft Nightclub handled the situation spectacularly. They wrote an essay on their Facebook page about racism in the UK. 'It made us grimace that even in today's society there are such dim lights still flickering in the background harboring such racist and personally disgusting views toward other human beings.'
They continued by addressing Deborah, 'Is there a particular shade of white that is acceptable?...Maybe you would like us to have a pure white British, non-Muslim member of staff, on call for your benefit so you can accept the rules when you are told them. Again color and heritage seem to be so important to yourself when understanding "Sorry you can't come in you have had too much to drink."'
'It doesn't matter to us the color of skin, disability, religious beliefs or where you or your parents came from, we were all born on Earth. The great thing about British culture is its tolerance and the opportunities that are given to all. To us, British culture is a melting pot of acceptance, beliefs, sports, business ideas, inventors, cultural developments, scientific research, arts and music influences from around the world. We are still growing and house some of the finest education centers in the world and a Law system that is the envy of many countries.'
They ended their essay by categorically banning Deborah from The Loft and linking to charity Stand Against Racism & Inequality with the suggestion of donations.
You can read the whole thing on their Facebook page

Weston-Super-Mare is in the North Somerset consituency which, back in June voted to leave the EU.
To you, as a liberal, the rant from Deborah may sound ridiculous, farcical even. But the time for not taking things like this seriously is long gone. 2017 is just around the corner and the far right are gaining traction across the world. Instead of laughing at people like Deborah, let's all take a leaf out of The Loft's book and learn instead how to engage and educate.
