You couldn’t make this shit up. Tiffany Austen was working out at branch of the Planet Fitness chain in Richmond, California when she was approached by a staff member and asked to cover up.
Were her clothes too revealing? Yes, but not in the way you might think. Apparently, Austen was just too toned, and was making other not-so-toned people feel bad as they worked out.
‘Excuse me, but we’ve had some complaints,’ an employee told her. ‘You’re intimidating people with your toned body. Could you please put on a shirt?’
Ironically, Planet Fitness markets itself as a ‘no judgment’ gym i.e. a place where the not-so-fit can go and work out without feeling awful about themselves. All fitness levels welcome!
Austen was in a pink crop top, and threw on a T-shirt over it, but told KTVU she was approached by a second employee and decided to leave: ‘Really, I felt intimidated and harassed by the place that says no intimidation’.
We can only imagine how it must feel be asked to cover up for being too toned, but that is literally never, ever going to happen. One can dream!
