WhatsApps New Feature Means You Can Never Ignore Group Chats Again. Ever

Group chats are extremely annoying, let’s just be honest. Hands up if you’re that person that mutes the conversation for 8 hours so you can actually get some work done and not look at your beeping phone? Well, sorry to disappoint you but those days are over.

You can now tag someone within a group chat on WhatsApp, which means it will bring up a list of the contacts within that group so you can direct your message to them. Simply pick who you want to direct your message to and send. That person will receive a notification, even if the conversation is muted. The days of ignoring group chats are well and truly over.

If you’re kicking yourself over the latest feature, here’s some other interesting new features to pull you out of your group chat disappointment.

Siri and WhatsApp

Before you could only ask Siri to ring via normal calls, but now if you press your home button and ask ‘Call [NAME] on WhatsApp,' it will ring that person for you. Handy hey, it makes calling abroad much cheaper too.

Calling and WhatsApp

Only normal calls would appear on your locked screen before this update, so if you got a WhatsApp call it could be a little confusing trying to answer it, but not anymore. Now both normal calls, and WhatsApp calls, appear on your lock screen, and you can answer them in the exact same way – by sliding your phone to unlock it.

Quoting people and WhatsApp

If the chat in your group chat is going too quickly nd you didn’t have enough time to reply, or you want someone to see their message alongside yours, you can now quote them. Just press down on their comment, press reply and then write your response. It means when you hit send they can see exactly what you’re responding to.

WhatsApp and flash for selfies

Oh hello new screen flash. With the new upgraded WhatsApp camera you can now take a selfie with flash – roll out the selfies.
