For anyone who has ever been even remotely involved in the planning of a wedding, the idea of having 34 bridesmaids might fill you with dread.

Between the stress of making sure the guests are catered for, everyone is where they’re supposed to be and dealing with the inevitable last-minute disaster it’s fair to say most weddings are a little stressful.

So when we heard about a woman who had a whopping 34 bridesmaids we had visions of squabbles over which dress style suited everyone, arguments over hair, makeup and accessories and general mayhem.

Turns out we’ve been watching too many episodes of Don’t Tell The Bride, and reading too many sensationalised bridezilla stories on the internet (shame on us!), because it seems like newlywed Casme Carter had a great time with her 34 bridesmaids – six of whom are her sisters.

The bride from New Orleans had a wedding on the beach (where else would she fit 34 bridesmaids!) and says she actually planned on having 50 bridesmaids.

‘I wanted them all to experience the love that they've seen that I've been praying for and wanting. I wanted them to witness it first hand,’ Carter told CNN in an interview after the story of her wedding went viral, saying she had made lots of friends via female empowerment groups over the years.

While Carter told her husband-to-be about the number of bridesmaids she planned on having at their Florida wedding (he made it clear he wouldn’t be matching her with the same number of groomsmen!), she didn’t tell all 34 bridesmaids that there were so many of them. Dividing the 34 into smaller groups, she gave them instructions to wear neutral beach dresses and bathing suits.

‘When they saw everybody they were like, “Oh my God, Casme. This is so awesome!”’ she told CNN.

No wonder they all so happy in the Instagram pictures! Time for us to find some more friends..
