It’s 8:17am. You’re juggling coffee, emails, and a small person who’s just decided to wear pyjamas to school. The oat milk’s finished, the WhatsApp group is in meltdown, and your iPhone battery is somehow at 3%. Sound familiar? Enter the Volvo EX90, Volvo’s first fully electric seven-seat SUV and (crucially) the antidote to modern life’s insanity. Step inside and it’s like flipping the switch from chaos to calm. With SunLike LEDs that mimic natural daylight, the interior glows with a quiet, golden light that somehow makes you feel a bit more put together. Suddenly, you’re not just surviving the school run, you’re gliding through it.

But it’s not just about mood lighting. The Volvo EX90 is the start of a new era for Volvo: sleek, all-electric, and brimming with the kind of quietly intelligent features that make you wonder how you ever managed without them. ‘The exterior design, the interiors, the colour options, the lighting – it’s all so beautiful and exemplifies our true Scandinavian design principles,’ says Volvo Managing Director, Nicole Melillo Shaw. And with two luxury awards already under its belt, it’s clear this car isn’t just about function. It’s about form, too.

Still, the core of the EX90’s appeal is what Volvo’s always done best: make you feel safe. Like, really safe. There’s LiDAR, which scans the road day or night and can detect tiny obstacles hundreds of metres ahead. There’s a new radar system that covers the entire interior (yes, even the boot) to prevent anyone - kids, pets, rogue handbags - from being accidentally left behind. And there are cameras that track your eye movements to gently intervene if you’re distracted or drowsy. ‘We are so proud of our heritage in safety,’ says Melillo Shaw. ‘In 2025, we’re moving into a new era; creating intelligent technology solutions to protect what is important to people in their everyday lives.’
During London Fashion Week, the Grazia fashion team used the EX90 as our mobile office-slash-styling suite, and can confirm: it delivered. It handled a week of backstage chaos, over-caffeinated editors, and more garment bags than any car should reasonably accommodate. The Google-built-in infotainment system (plus wireless Apple CarPlay) meant no one got lost en route to Erdem. The wipe-clean Nordico upholstery - crafted from recycled PET bottles - meant no one panicked when someone spilled an oat flat white in the backseat. And the boot swallowed an entire week’s worth of wardrobe changes without breaking a sweat.

So is it the perfect car for busy working mums, fashion editors, or just anyone tired of being tired? Absolutely. ‘The space in the car is incredible,’ says Melillo Shaw. ‘The Nordico fabric is not only beautiful and comfortable - but it’s also wipe-clean, which let’s face it, is an essential with young children.’ It’s a car that gets it.
The Volvo EX90 is what happens when thoughtful design meets real life. It’s not flashy. It doesn’t scream for attention. But it does quietly transform your day, whether you’re heading to the school gates or to the FROW. And in a world where everything feels rushed, loud, and overwhelming, that’s kind of everything.
