Even the most dedicated Potterheads have got one key fact about the Harry Potter franchise all wrong.

You know that feeling when someone keeps getting your name wrong, but you leave it way too long to say anything? Well J K Rowling has just let slip that for the past 19 years of Potter magic we have been pronouncing 'you know who' the Dark Lord's name wrong.

She always intended for Voldemort to have a silent t. A Harry Potter fan tweeted: "One piece of Harry Potter trivia I always forget to mention: the "t" is silent in Voldemort, according to @jk_rowling." Jo replied "... but I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who pronounces it that way." Talk about 'He Who Must Not Be Named.'

She has given no clue as to why she didn't correct the pronounciation for the films. Perhaps, to use a Friends reference, it was a Chandler pretending to be Toby situation.
