Ok, serious queston, when does anyone find the time or energy to go to the gym and actually do a workout? Before work? Lol, I’m sleeping, and after? Well, there’s only time for one important thing tbh- and that’s Netflix.
But, what if you could combine a calorie blasting, toxin flushing, heart racing and greatly self-rewarding workout WITH the joys of watching an episode of your favourite Netflix boxset? Well, now because of the geniuses at L.A.’s Shape House you (sort of) can. Maybe.
The guys at Shape House have created an 'urban sweat lodge' where you sit in a private room, wrapped in an up-to 160 degrees burning blanket for 55 minutes, sweating out last weekend’s blurry memories and bad decisions, all while you enjoy your latest Netflix addiction.
This method has got to be one of the laziest ways of working out, yet Shape House claim it can burn off up to a whopping 1,000 calories per each sweaty session. The founders at Shape House claim that their FAR infrared natural energy flushes out murky toxins and helps boost endorphins, which can prevent bad moods and and bad nights’ sleeps.
This 'workout' also comes accompanied by a personal attendant who helps make the experience as spa-like and tranquil as possible, well, that’s over the sound of you cackling along or shouting at the suspense of your Netflix show- if you go, pls try to remember you’re not at home. Although, saying that the mini-house shaped cabins, with their potted plants and selective wall art, do actually make the sweat boxes look homely, and lavender-scented towels and cooling refreshments like tea, Alkaline waterand orange slices make it all sound pretty luxe.
That said - and massive disclaimer here guys - as with all nuts-sounding LA health treatments (and sweat lodges) don't try to recreate this at home yourself - best case scenario, you'll get overwhelmed in the middle of Gilmore Girls season 3 and have to go and sit in the back garden for a bit to cool down.
Whether it’s your cup of tea or not, the people of Cali are loving it- including celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, and Ll Cool J. And you know when the Kardashians feature on anything the world goes ‘ah my gad’ crazy, so it’s pretty damn popular. The company claim its technique to be the 'smartest, quickest, most affordable and most comfortable way' to sweat, and that by sweating 'you are a better driver, a better parent, a better friend.'
Maybe this is true - or maybe you'll just be that sweaty guy in a blanket watching Netflix: AKA everyday life.
