Hurrah! Twitter has expanded the character limit to 280 after trialing it on a small group of users earlier this year.
You can now send 280 character tweets with abandon – and Twitter even shows you a visual representation of how many characters you have left on the bottom right-hand side of the text box, in the form of a tiny circle.
The change doesn’t include tweets written in Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
Twitter is trying to attract new users and hopes this will help that – although some of these long-winded rambling tweets might do the exact opposite.

‘We saw when people needed to use more than 140 characters, they tweeted more easily and more often.’ Aliza Rosen, Twitter's product manager wrote in a blog post.
‘But importantly, people tweeted below 140 most of the time and the brevity of Twitter remained.’
Let’s take a look at some people who used their new powers for good, and some who really really didn’t.
The Good
OK, technically this doesn't use 280 in a tweet... but this list of Netflix characters is a great reminder that we need to catch up on Stranger Things tonight.
A reminder of this iconic Oscars moment.

House music vibes for hump day.

Because the puffa fish emoji doesn't get used enough.
shimmies
One for the Law and Order fans.
For real though, this is what we actually wanted.
The most relatable 280 character tweet.
And some wishful thinking from the NBA.
The Bad
This is why we can't have nice things.
Just so lengthy and unnecessary.
Don't you have more important things to be doing?!
As above, this cannot be the best use of company time.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Hopefully, once the novelty of 280 characters goes away, these will stop. crosses fingers
