You Can Now Tweet Everything You Ever Wanted To Say

Twitter has just announced the news we’ve all been waiting for, ever since the social media giant was founded back in 2006. FYI that’s a whole decade of waiting.

As of next week, you will be able to write more than the infuriatingly limited 140 characters. Yes, you heard us correctly. According to Verge, Twitter will no longer count GIFs, images or videos within the word limit.

Finally, our avocado laden hangover breakfasts can get the media attention they truly deserve. Accompanied by a rather witty tweet, if we do say so ourselves.

But what about those friends we follow who selfishly sacrifice our crucial character space with ridiculously long usernames? Well Twitter has us covered, as names will also no longer be counted within the limit.

The news surprisingly comes after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey hit back at claims that the company were changing the character limit earlier this year. In a statement shared on his Twitter account (of course), the CEO described the 140-character count as, ‘a beautiful constraint’ which inspires ‘creativity and brevity’.

We can’t help but wonder what inspired him to change his mind.

Maybe he decided he needed glorifying brunch space too...
