A transgender teen vying to win the Miss England contest has unfortunately come up against hateful internet trolls. Jordan Davis, 17, lived as a boy until a year ago, and has since started transitioning. Despite coming first in the Miss Coventry competition, Jordan now faces abuse from online trolls, and has been forced to take down her Ask.fm profile, as the anonymous criticism was upsetting her so much.

‘I’ve had death threats on Ask.Fm and had to close my account down. They said I wasn’t a real woman and didn’t deserve to be in the competition. ‘But I’ve known all my life I was a girl,' she told *The Coventry Telegraph, '*I left school as a boy – then started college as a girl. I’m now saving up for an operation.’

This isn’t the first time that Ask.Fm has been criticized for allowing people a platform by which to abuse each other without fear of retribution. Late last year, after 14-year-old Hannah Smith committed suicide, her parents called upon AskFm’s Russian bosses to put a halt to the site amid fears that she had been receiving abuse on the site. A full inquest into her death will take place in May.

On a much much brighter side for Jordan she is rid of Ask.Fm and is through to next month’s Miss Coventry final.
