Today in FFS News, two policemen are now under investigation after they accidentally left a voicemail on the phone of 19 year-old suspected domestic violence victim calling her a ‘fucking slag’ and a ‘bitch’. Really nice guys. Good job.
The two officers arrived at the Sutton home of Alex Faragher in order to take a statement after a suspected domestic violence incident between Alex and her ex-partner. But when the policemen arrived Alex wasn’t in, which prompted them to phone her mobile. Well, the call went to her answerphone and the policeman obviously forgot to hang up, because their rank conversation was automatically recorded.
One officer is heard saying to his colleague saying: ‘Fucking bitch, I specifically said: 'You are not going to give us the run around are you? “No, I want to press charges,” she said. Fucking slag.’ Later in the recording, which can be heard here, the policeman can be heard checking addresses for Alex from the police control centre and the second officer is heard saying: ‘Either that or the only other thing we do is go back, fucking draft the statement ourselves and then just get the bitch to sign it.’
Did we mention that ‘the bitch’ was a suspected domestic violence victim? Or that she’s NINETEEN?! Really makes you feel confident about the policemen carrying out their civic duty doesn’t it?
West Midlands Police last night confirmed an investigation was underway and that the two male policemen have been placed on restricted duties (which presumably means they're still working). Rachel Jones, Commander of the Birmingham North Police, said she has ‘visited the complainant personally to explain what action is being taken as well as apologising for any upset caused as a consequence of the officers’ alleged conduct.’
Alex told the Mail that the message made her feel ‘angry’ and that ‘wants the police to do something about it’ but she has ‘no confidence that anything is going to be done’. After that message, we can’t say we blame her.
