But is it maybe just a whole load of stress we don't need?

You Can Now Link Your Tinder Profile To Your Spotify Account

First Bumble did it and now Tinder are following suit and adding in a Spotify function which will allow users to share their favourite songs with potential matches.

You'll be able to play previews of other people’s top songs from the Tinder profile which is both a blessing and a curse – depending on what your recent song choices have been like.

Linking your Spotify account to your Tinder will also display the artists that you have in common, giving you even more reason (or less, depending on what they actually are) to swipe right.

Speaking on their blog, Tinder said that they 'already suggests matches based on your swiping preferences, mutual friends and common interests, but we know we can always add more to the equation', so people with similar music tastes to yours will be more likely to show up.

There’s also the option of choosing your ‘Anthem’ – the song that sums you up or ‘where the lyrics of your life meet the rhythm of your soul’, as they described it. Tbh, it sounds like a whole load of hassle to me. If you were ever into Myspace, you’ll remember the stress that was picking your profile song, and now it’s back.

How to add an Anthem to your Tinder profile

  1. Search Spotify to find your Anthem even if you haven’t connected your Spotify account to Tinder.

  2. Visit your Profile Settings in Tinder to connect your Spotify account (or download Spotify from the App Store or Google Play to create a new account for free).

  3. Select which of your favorite Spotify artists you’d like to display on your Tinder profile. Start swiping to see who shares your taste in music.
