It's Donald Trump's first few days in office as President of the United States, and people have not stayed quiet.
Across the world, millions have taken to the streets to protest against the misogynistic 45th president, and raise awareness of women's rights.
As far as protests go, one couldn’t be more rousing or powerful than the Women’s March on London. It wasn’t just peaceful; it was immovably hopeful that strong voices could help bring about racial and gender equality, both of which are under threat from Trump’s presidency.
Speakers including Sandi Toksvig of the Women's Equality Party and Labour MP Yvette Cooper addressed the crowds before a passionate mass of 100,000 people marched from the U.S. Embassy in Mayfair to Trafalgar Square.
In true #HeForShe spirit, thousands of men turned out for the event, many standing with their young daughters, bearing placards reading- “Women’s Rights Are Human Rights.”
There were children of all ages, marching hand in hand with their parents. One 7-year-old’s sign read- “Ivakna Trump, My Daddy Is Better Than Your Daddy.”
To many, the most undeniable messages must have been the exasperated ones, stating “I Can’t Believe We’re Still Protesting This.” Because really, hasn't this been said enough?
In the UK, marches have been taking place up and down the country in Belfast, Cardiff, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Shipley and Edinburgh.
The Washington DC march, saw half a million women line the streets in Trump's new hometown.
So will these worldwide protests change anything in the long run? Maybe not. But the point is that there’s still a huge fight left, and it’s essential that those who care enough continue to show it.
