Taylor Swift On The Lesson She Learned From Her Spat With Nicki Minaj

Taylor Swift has spoken about that now-infamous Twitter spat with Nicki Minaj in an interview with NME magazine - and what she learned from the altercation.

"I don't want to talk about it," she told the publication. "But I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone's management, I get their number and I text them."

She added, "It's an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015."

So, basically, don't make every thought and conversation you have with someone else TOTALLY public. Good lesson for us all to learn in the age of social media.

Taylor and Nicki clashed after Nicki tweeted about the VMA nominations, and Taylor replied with: "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."

Nicki replied with "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this."

Taylor eventually apologised and tweeted "I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki" - and the pair made up on stage.

The same didn't happen for Miley Cyrus, who called out Nicki for her tweets in an interview, leading to this exchange at the awards ceremony. Nicki has recently spoken about why she decided to call Miley out for her actions.

Here's hoping that in the future there won't be so much beef between the world's biggest music stars.

It's been more than 24 hours since Taylor Swift mistook Nicki Minaj's rant about the VMA nominations as a dig at her, and it seems that she's been doing a lot of thinking since then.

Taylor has just tweeted an apology to Nicki - admitting that she thought Nicki's comments were a personal attack on her, not a comment on the music industry as a whole.

She wrote: 'I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki.

Nicki has yet to respond to the apology.

After Nicki was snubbed by MTV for a VMA in the Video Of The Year category she blasted the nomination process and wrote: ‘If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.'

Taylor, 25, seemed to think the tweet was about her and replied: 'I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.'

The Anaconda singer's reply suggested that Taylor had missed the point: 'Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this.'

She also retweeted a fan who wrote: ‘'@Taylorswift stop using "support all girls" as an excuse to not be critical of racist media that benefits and glorifies you.'

Taylor tried to backtrack on her tweet and asked Nicki to share in her moment, should she scoop the gong on the night. 'If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on.'

Taylor’s Bad Blood video was nominated while Nicki’s controversial Anaconda video failed to gain recognition. In May, Bad Blood, which featured many of Taylor’s A-list pals, broke video streaming records set by Nicki's Anaconda last August.

Anaconda was undoubtedly one of the most talked-about videos of last year with the eye-popping sequence sparking countless memes, covers and article inches.

Alluding to this Nicki wrote: ‘U couldn’t go on social media w/o seeing ppl doing the cover art, choreo, outfits for Halloween… an impact like that & no VOTY nomination?'

It was the talking point of yesterday on Twitter with the likes of Aaron Paul and Bruno Mars wading into the conversation.
