And another client bites the dust! Just days after US Vogue distanced themselves from photographer Terry Richardson, US high street store* Target* has followed suit, with a spokesman for the brand revealing they have 'no plans' to work with him again.
Over the past few years, rumblings have been gathering pace that the bespectacled photographer has often acted sexually inappropriately towards models, birthing a #NoMoreTerry boycott campaign which has aimed to apply pressure upon magazines, advertisers and newspapers to stop working with the infamous photographer, who has previously photographed celebrities from Kim Kardashian to Barack Obama.
In the past week the pressure has intensified, after a conversation between Terry and British model Emma Appleton was leaked, in which the 48-year-old offered her a feature in Vogue if she slept with him. But the New York Post have since confirmed that the Facebook account associated with the message was found to be a fake; set up just two weeks ago through a bogus Gmail account. Though there are no formal charges against him, the building allegations, which include masturbating into a model’s face and asking another if he could make tea with her tampon, have got a lot of bad press. So much bad press that the giant of fashion publishing, Vogue, and now *Target - *the second largest discount retailer in America - have seemingly decided they don't want anything to do with Terry.
A spokesman for Target said: "We worked with Terry on a campaign for one of our limited-edition collaborations... We have no plans to work with him in the future."
As the #NoMoreTerry boycott picks up pace in the publishing world, we’ll see who is next to distance themselves from the photographer.
