It happens to the best of us: when faced with a computer screen and something important to do, our 2016 attention spans concentrate for about eight seconds before tempting us to the Sidebar Of Shame or Bored Panda.

Now a website, or ‘productivity tool’, has been created that will stop humans procrastinating.

Take A Five doesn’t work by blocking you from social media or requiring you to deactivate any logins, but by ‘self-destructing’ the tab you’re on when your break time is up.

It’s pretty simple. All you have to do is go to the Take A Five homepage, choose a break length (1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or custom) and the site you’d like to spend it on from a list of sites, games, trending videos and articles.

You can even add a Google Chrome extension so you’ve got it on hand all the time.

We were hoping for something dramatic, like the cascading cards when you finish Solitaire on an old PC, but instead it’s just a handy little pop-up GIF and a motivational quote.

Our latest was a bearded man dressed in a satin blazer tapping his watch with the words: “Time's up, back to work!”, and the Thomas Jefferson quote: "I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it".

Obviously, it then trusts you to actually leave the site and not just ignore it and carry on scrolling down Obama and Biden memes.

Thought it’s easy to be cynical about the Take A Five claim, “it will change your life”, if you’re a serial procrastinator, it’s definitely worth a try…
