Amid all the bad news, and the stuff that makes you feel sick, sometimes you really need an honest-to-goodness story about a dog who stayed with her dog friend to make sure she was OK when she fell down a ravine, the Metro reports.
Yep, when two dogs called Tillie and Phoebe got lost in a forest in Washington State, Phoebe fell into a bit of a hole. Tillie’s reaction, then, was to sit by the hole for an entire week to make sure her dog-friend was alright until grown-up humans came to rescue her.
Yes. Yes, that is the most heartwarming story you’ll hear today unless something pretty fucking heartwarming happens to you.
‘With a needle in the haystack hope we made our way into the ravine and after a bit of searching, finally heard that sweet sound we’ve been waiting for all week. A small one-woof response when we called out,’ a spokesperson for the Vashon Island Pet Protectors said, after they’d received a tip-off.
Tillie was sat by a cistern, but Phoebe was nowhere to be seen – thankfully, after a bit of digging around, they found the basset hound alive, reasonably well, and probably massively hungry. It had been six days since the pair went missing.
Tillie had been sitting with Phoebe, and regularly making trips to try and find help (nobody has confirmed how they knew this, as dogs can’t talk, but we presume the person who tipped the VIPP off saw Tillie scouting around for someone to help out) until both were returned safely to their owners.
Our hearts have melted.
