You know when people follow an already slightly dubious argument to its logical conclusion ending up with something so batshit crazy it almost starts to sound reasonable? Well, a reality TV show called *The Sex Factor *has just launched in America in the hope to finding the next new porn star.
On the one hand, we actually can’t believe that nobody has come up with this before – especially considering how talent shows and pornography are about the only bankable certainties in modern culture – but on the other, we’re also pretty certain that this represents the beginning of the demise of human existence. Answers on a postcard please.
The Sex Factor will pit 16 hopefuls (eight guys, eight girls) against each other, all competing for $1 million dollars and a chance for ‘porn stardom’ as part of the multi-million pound adult entertainment industry. The contestants will compete in a series of ‘challenges’ and the two winners – one male one female – will be voted for by online viewers.
Four of the biggest names in the industry, including Brit Keiran Lee, will judge and mentor the hopefuls (what does this involve?! The mind boggles) and the web series will be hosted by Belle Knox, the student from prestigious Duke University, who was outed as an adult entertainer by her fellow students. And it’s not just fame and fortune the contestants stand to win – the winners will also perform in a movie with Ms Knox.
Now. Simon Cowell has obviously spawned a myriad of monsters with The X Factor format, but this really is the living end, isn’t it? We’re trying not to be too judgemental here – obviously, everyone involved has freely decided to compete in the programme and it’s clear that the whole things supposed to be a bit of a laugh, but...
