ICYMI, the Team USA Olympics Gymnastics team (aka The Final Five) walked away with gold medals in the team competition. They were bloody brilliant. Hell, everyone on that Olympic floor was bloody brilliant. These women can do stuff with their body that normal human beings wouldn't ever consider in the realms of possibility.
Our own UK team did a smashing job, Ruby Harrold, Becky Downie, Elissa Downie, Claudia Fragapane and Amy Tinkler came 5th overall. 5th in the whole world! Top work girls.
The gymnast that caught everyone's attention though was wunderkind Simone Biles from the United States. She is, at 19, widely regarded to be the best gymnast the world has ever seen and her near-perfect performance last night just further cemented that fact.
So, who is Simone Biles?
Simone is 19 and from Colombus, Ohio. Her birth mother suffered from drug and alcohol addiction and, as a result she was adopted by her grandparents, Nellie and Ron Biles when she was four years old. Look how cute her mum Nellie is.
Simone got into gymnastics when she was six years old and, after that, went from strength to strength and she became part of the United States Junior Team in 2012 and in 2015 she became national champion AND Team USA Female Athlete Of The Year. Then, in July this year, she was named as part of the team for the Olympics in Rio 2016. Now, she's won her first Olympics gold medal as part of Team USA and she's on track to win big in the individual rounds too, taking place this week.
Basically, she's the best.

Four foot, eight inches. Which makes her ability to go this damn high, all the more impressive.
