Have you, like so many others, smashed your iPhone and had to endure squinting your eyes to see through the tiny bits of splintered glass?

Or have you had to revert to an old flip phone that is reminiscent of your first ever mobile from back when an Eeyore phone case was on point?

Well, if you are single and looking for love you might need to rethink your decision to ignore getting it fixed or buying a new one.

That is because dating service Match has released its 7th annual Singles in America survey, which has revealed that singles are more likely to judge you negatively if your phone has a cracked screen or is old.

Dr Helen Fisher who is a Biological Anthropologist and Chief Scientific Advisor for Match explained: 'Singles don’t like people who have a cracked phone, or an old phone or those who use a clicking sound when typing.'

Interestingly, it’s the ladies who are more likely to be doing the judging with 86% of ladies found to negatively judge a man for having a cracked screen.

However, the good news for Millennials is that it is Gen Xers and Boomers that are more likely to judge you on your cracked screen. Showing Millennials to be more sympathetic to this very modern turn-off.

Other tech turn-offs found were more obvious annoyances such as constantly checking social media and complaining openly on Facebook, which saw over half of all those surveyed agreeing that this was a no-no.

It seems that tech turn-offs are something that singles will now need to take into account in the dating world, as Dr Fisher predicts that they will influence the dating of the future: 'I think we will see more of these taboos as singles are leading the way in expressing new forms of politeness in the technological era.'

Of course, there was also tech turn-ons in Match’s findings with singles a mighty 270% more likely to think it’s hot if you are binge-watching the same TV show and 26% more likely to be turned on if you are not on social media at all.

So, singles, I guess it is time to delete all of your social media accounts… but not before checking out what that girl or guy you have your eye on is currently watching on Netflix and getting your phone screen fixed.
