Two days after the birth of their baby girl, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that their daughter is called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Lovely, don't you think?
The princess, who is fourth in line to the throne, will be known as Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. It's a sentimental choice, as Charlotte is the feminine of version of Charles. Charlotte is also Pippa Middleton's middle name and William has a cousin called Charlotte Spencer. It's also a royal name - George III's wife was named Queen Charlotte.
While her middle names are of course a nod to the Queen - Elizabeth II - and William's late mother Diana.
Get ready for a flood of baby Charlottes - a name which is already very popular. According the Office for National Statistics, Charlotte is the 21st most popular girl's name in England and Wales.
Now just imagine how thrilled Sex and the City's Charlotte York would be. The bookies will not be so happy - Charlotte was the most popular bet since the birth of the princess. According to Ladbrokes, £1m has been paid out since the news of the name broke.
