She sparked surgery rumours as she showed off a new look at the Elle Women In Hollywood awards in LA earlier this week, but Renee Zellwegger says she’s pleased people have noticed she looks ‘different’.

The 45-year-old actress says her appearance is down to a ‘more fulfilling life’ and branded claims she has gone under the knife as ‘silly’.

Speaking to People magazine she said: ‘I'm glad folks think I look different!’

‘I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows.’

She added: ‘"My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy. For a long time I wasn't doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things.’

Renee, who called the conversation about her appearance ‘silly’, has been dating boyfriend Doyle Bramhall since 2012 and has taken a step back from the limelight.

The Bridget Jones star, whose last film was released My Own Love Song was released in 2010 said she has spent time focusing on ‘growing into herself’.

She said: ‘I did work that allows for being still, making a home, loving someone, learning new things, growing as a creative person and finally growing into myself.’

Renee also attributes her new look to ageing saying that people don’t really know her in her 40s.

The actress is set to return to the big screen next year with her new film The Whole Truth – which she is currently filming.
