Reddit Users Are Sharing What Sensations They Hate, And We Can Relate

Cotton wool can f off for a start

Reddit Sensations You Hate

When it comes to odd sensations I’ve got a whole list of things that give me the creeps. From cotton wool to the way an earring feels when you take it out - if it makes me cringe in anyway shape or form, I’m not going near it.

And it would seem I’m not alone with my weird sensation phobia. A top Reddit thread has been doing the rounds titled, ‘What sensations do you absolutely HATE?’ That’s HATE with capitals, so you know these guys have some pretty strong feelings towards the below.

The one who can't stand bugs

‘The buzzing of a mosquito or fly right by your ear when you’re trying to sleep.’ Oh God yes. Especially when you open to window so it can get the fuck out but it still chooses to buzz right on by your ear. Nightmare.

The original one

‘Second hand embarrassment. Can’t stand it. I get all sweaty and I can hardly watch but i don’t want to turn away for fear of missing it. Kudos to this one for originality - I never thought about ‘embarrassment’ as a sensation but just thinking about watching something cringey makes me squirm.

The not-good-for-public one

‘The tiny itch at the back of your throat that makes you cough.’ Yes yes yes yes - especially when you’re in a meeting and can’t cough, or on the tube surrounded by judgemental people.

The traumatising one

‘Suddenly biting down on something hard…when you’ve been eating something soft. The sound that echoes from it inside my head is also the worst.’ This one is a killer, especially when you accidentally bite your tongue and you forget what life was ever like before you bit your tongue.

The worst one

‘Try to pull of that little bit of chapped lip skin, then RIIIIIIP…half an inch of skin tears off with it…hate that shit.’ aklfahsgkjshfg I can’t even.

**Here’s some of team Debrief’s least favourite sensations **

Rebecca, Editor: ‘When my mum used to wipe her foot on the floor with tights on, and when someone elses feet touch my feet’

Lucy, Fashion Editor: ‘When someone scraps a metal spoon across something else metal. That sound makes me come out in hives.’

Vicky, Deputy Editor: ‘When people’s teeth touch the fork when they’re eating – it makes me feel sick, always has. I used to have to eat in a separate room to my family.’

Katie, Creative Editor: ‘That dropping feeling you get when you go down rollercoasters.’

Katie, Intern: ‘This is a weird one, but waiting for the toast to pop up - it always makes me jump.’

Jazmin, Cultural Writer: ‘If someone touches the base of my foot with their toe, and if you can feel another humans toe nail tip.’ I’m really not sure what Jaz is doing where she can feel other people’s toes within such close proximity on such a regular basis but we're with her on this one.
