Mario Testino's official Royal Christening photographs are here - and yep, they are just as cute as we hoped. Why have regular baby photos, when you can have Mario Testino baby photos, eh?
Kensington Palace posted the four pictures on their Instagram page, which includes a group portrait of the royal family with the Queen sat on a floral seat with Kate, William George and Charlotte. Stood behind we have the Middletons, Camilla, Charles and Phillip.
In another image William cuddles a smiling George in the gardens at Sandringham House, and in another Kate is photographed looking down at Charlotte in the Drawing Room at Sandringham House.
Mario said of photographing the Christening: "I am overwhelmed and honoured to be chosen to document this occasion and to carry on the documentation of the family that is the soul of this country, a country that has given me so much."
A spokesperson from Kensington Palace said when the news was announced: "The Duke and Duchess are delighted that Mario Testino will help capture this important moment for their family and look forward to sharing the photographs with the public."
Prince George's official Christening photograph was taken by Jason Bell, however Mario Testino has a long history with the royal family. He took the official engagement photographs of Kate and William and has also photographed Prince Charles, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Of course Mario Testino was a favourite photographer of Princess Diana. Testino said to The Telegraph of his iconic Diana Vanity Fair shoot: “I knew from the start that this shoot was different. It would make us.” He added: “I was amazed by this person who, even though she had everything, would go to feed the homeless and visit sick children and Aids victims. It was like a fairy tale. Who was she really? Why did she do this? She was trying to find love. I wanted the world to see her kindness, her humility: I think she realised that would be her way.”
Testino has said of the engagement photographs: “I waited a long time, an hour or two, to make that picture perfect. But I wasn’t totally satisfied. Then, when I’d finished the shoot, they were about to leave and they suddenly hugged in front of a radiator. I took my camera and that was the picture that ran everywhere — it was spontaneous emotion … you could see they were completely in love.”
