Princess Charlotte is due to be christened this Sunday, and the question on everyone's lips is who will have the honour of playing godparents to the newborn royal. But there is one name we can confidently strike from the list: Prince Harry will miss the ceremony while on his three month tour of Africa and will not be named a godparent to his niece.
So who is in the running? The Telegraph reports that unlike Prince George who has seven godparents, Royal sources suggest that Charlotte will have a more even six. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thought to be unlikely to choose more than one member of close family. Princess Beatrice is the bookies' favourite, with Princess Eugenie, Peter Phillips and Mike Tindall also hotly tipped.
Also in the running are Prince William's life-long friend Hugh van Cutsem and Kate Middleton's Alicia Fox-Pitt, as are the Duke’s Private Secretary Miguel Head and the Duchess’s Private Secretary Rebecca Deacon. We'll have to wait until Sunday to be sure who got those all important calls.
The ceremony will be performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury at 4.30pm at the church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Mario Testino is the day's official photographer and will capture the Duke and Duchess's first public outing with both of their children. Watch this space for all the pics.
