We love a good themed café here in the UK. First came the stream of cat cafés, where we adopted Japanese traditionand welcomed all kinds of breeds of cat into some of our local coffee shops. Now, it’s time to welcome the dogs – pugs to be precise. Soon, one London coffee shop will be filled with heavy-breathing pug pups.
The Pop Up Pug Café has already popped up in both Brighton and Guildford, but back by popular demand, will soon be heading to London. On Saturday 9th September, Shoreditch’s popular coffee shop The Book Club will be hosting the third ever Pop Up Pug Café event.
The Book Club is a coffee house in the heart of Shoreditch and for one day only it will be hosting a special event in which it will allow pugs and their owners to invade the space. The pugs are pretty much VIP here, no other breeds are permitted and a special menu has been created especially for them. Each pug will receive a doggy cappuccino upon arrival (a puguccino) and the menu also boasts a pug bakery – the barkery – which will be serving up fresh doggy treats all day, including homemade doggy cakes and biscuits.
Don’t worry though, it won’t just be your pride and joy pug receiving all the treats, the Pop Up Pug Caféwill have an incredible ‘human’ menu being served up too. This menu sounds pretty amazing, following an American theme it will be serving up cheesecakes amongst other home baked goods.
The pugs will be treated like royalty on the day, and according to the official Pop Up Pug Café’s website, the event will have temperature control and fresh water supplied to the pugs throughout the day. Despite the red carpet being rolled out, you are still recommended to keep a close eye on your furry friend at all times.
The time slots for all visits to the café are each an hour and ten minutes. Despite being primarily for pug owners, the event does have an amount of limited spaces for pug admirers too, but you will need to be quick to snap these up.
Tickets are required to take part in the pug-filled day, and these include a booking fee; pug owners: £5 and pug lovers: £10. The Pop Up Pug Café confirms that a portion of this fee will be
Booking opens at 11am on Saturday 19th August.. but be quick, it’s expected to be extremely popular.
