It’d be an understatement to say that some American women are fearful of what having Donald Trump and Mike Pence as the political leaders of the United States means for their futures. So much so that many have been rushing to have IUD’s fitted before any of the speculated legislative changes to healthcare are put into action.
Most recently though, Planned Parenthood, the US family planning organisation that Pence has spent a lot of time actively trying to block funding for, has received a wave of donations… In Mike Pence’s name.
Amy Schumer and actress Amber Tamblyn both shared an Instagram post by Bethany Cosentino’s which explained that, in a beautifully ironic act of protest against Pence’s stance on anti-abortion, people could make donations to Planned Parenthood using his name and address.
Sure, donating to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence’s name might not seem like the biggest act of protest in the world, but there’s no doubt that Pence is only being made increasingly aware of how strongly women oppose his views on healthcare and the right to abortion. We can only hope it makes a lasting impact.
