We Reached Peak Chiltern! The Things That Reached Saturation Point In 2014

By far the word of the year, 'peak' (when something or someone reaches the pinnacle of success) was never summed up better than by Chiltern Firehouse. Opening its doors on 20 February, it was instantly propelled to the heady heights of legendary celebrity nightspot list. Its laid-back decor within a Victorian gothic fire station, set off by cult chef Nuno Medes' menu, alongside an iron-curtain door policy, meant that the pavement outside became a catwalk for the likes of Kate Moss, One Direction, David Beckham and Rita Ora.

Founder Andre Balazs (himself a handsome draw) became the most eligible arm for London ladies, having broken a string of Hollywood hearts, with reported dates as far-ranging as Pippa Middleton and Kylie Minogue. When C-listers started popping in, many feared it had reached saturation point. But then the Christmas party pictures began to roll in.

Three secret gigs a night for a month were all sold out.

Fine for the beach, not so much for the city.

The fulfords, Ladies of London, Made in Chelsea... Next year, maybe will we be downwardly mobile?
