Parliament Will Debate Whether To Ban Donald Trump From The UK

He’s mocked a disabled news reporter, called breast pumps disgusting and suggested banning all muslims from entering the U.S. Do we really want to let him into Britain where he can insult just about everyone he meets and offend us with his abhorrent taste in baseball caps? Case in point…

On Tuesday, The House of Commons will decide.

More than 565,000 people have signed a petition to have the billionaire businessman barred from the country, after he appalled the general public by saying hat Muslims should be banned from the U.S as a way of reducing the terrorism threat. The Republican, who is standing for presidential nomination, attempted to defend his comments by suggesting that countries around the world, including the UK, have become so radicalised and even the police are scared.

In order to trigger a debate in the Commons, petitions must reach at least 100,000 signatures - unsurprisingly, the prospect of having Trump banned from the UK prompted more than five times that amount to sign on the dotted line. The rival petition opposing the ban has a mere 40,000 signatures, but will also be debated this coming Tuesday.

The Government are reluctant to refer specifically to Trump himself, stating ‘the Government does not routinely comment on individual immigration and exclusion decisions’.

However, in a Government statement, the Home Secretary deemed entry into the UK ‘a privilege and not a right’, and endeavors to use her power to prevent those who ‘seek to harm our society or do not share our basic values’ from entering our little country.

Our Prime Minister, on the other hand, is less on the fence when it comes to his opinion of Mr Trump Towers’ interesting attitudes. A Government statement states that Dave does in fact disagree, referring to Trump’s comments about the Muslim community as ‘divisive, unhelpful and wrong’.

Which side of the debate are you on? Obvs we’re totally unbiased removes pins from Donald Trump voodoo doll.
