Oscars 2015: Dakota Johnson And Melanie Griffith Have Awkward Spat In Interview

She recently revealed she had split from her musician boyfriend and at the Oscarson Sunday evening Dakota Johnson took along her mother Melanie Griffith as her date.

The 50 Shades of Grey star walked the red carpet with Melanie and the pair looked absolutely adorable together. Dakota - who was dressed in a stunning Saint Laurent dress, wearing her hair in a simple pony tail - revealed that she had taken some of the props from the controversial movie home with her. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on E! Dakota explained: 'Yes I took home a flogger, can I say that on TV?'

Ryan tried to keep a straight face but his co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic were seen in fits of giggles. Giuliana even had to Google what a flogger was.

Their interview with ABC was a little more awkward, as the pair had a mother-daughter spat over Fifty Shades. When asked if she'd seen the film Melanie said: “No. I don’t think I can … I think it would be strange.” Johnson then rolled her eyes and said “All right! You don’t have to see it!”

Melanie then said “If she tells me to see it, I’ll see it,” to which Dakota said: “I tell you to see it and you’re like, ‘Eh.’" Watch the moment here...

News Dakota was single broke over the weekend. The actress had been dating Matthew Hitt for about six months but the pair recently called time on their romance - with rumours the strain of shooting the film proving too much for their relationship.

Dakota, whose father is Don Johnson, is no stranger to The Oscars - the beauty attended the glitzy event with her mother Melanie and stepfather Antonio Banderas in 2002.
