Awards season might have officially closed with the Oscars, but on Sunday night we got our red carpet fix thanks to the 2015 Olivier Awards. The awards took place at the Royal Opera House and were hosted by Lenny Henry.

On the red carpet it was Nicole Scherzinger who wowed in black strapless Galia Lahav, while inside it was Dame Angela Lansbury and Kevin Spacey who brought the real star quality to the proceedings. Here our the highlights from this year's ceremony...

1. Nicole's strong red carpet game

The stand out looks on the red carpet are Nicole Scherzinger in a black strapless Galia Lahav gown with a beautiful fishtail gown, and Gemma Arterton who wore a body-skimming DSquared2 black dress with criss-cross detailing on the back. Nicole hit the stage in heavily embellished sequin gown for an emotional performance of Memory.

2. Dame Angela Lansbury won her first Olivier at the age of 89

The actress (who wore a fabulous pair of red heels) won the best supporting actress award for her role in Blithe Spirit. She said when accepting her award: "Here I am creeping up to 90 and feeling like a million dollars because I'm in London in this magnificent hall with all you - my roots, where I began."

3. Expect a surge in ticket sales for 'A Sunny Afternoon'

This musical, inspired by the Kinks, won four awards - best new musical, best actor, best supporting actor and outstanding achievement in music. Ray Davies said on accepting his award: "Without people we have no plays we have no films. People are the source of my material. The next time you are sitting in a park somewhere and you see someone like me looking at you, don’t phone the police. I’m just writing about you."

**4. Dianna Agron on her West End debut in play about late Alexander McQueen

The Glee star will make her debut in a West End play about the late Alexander McQueen. She presented at the Olivier Awards and wore a vintage gown by Lee McQuen.

5. Kevin Spacey should end all awards ceremonies

Dame Judi Dench presented Kevin Spacey with his special award, honouring his decade of work with the Old Vic. After a touching speech he threw off his jacket and performed 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' with a full choir and appearance from Beverley Knight.
