Wowzers you guys. Last night one half of Friends reunited on the telly in Monica and Rachel’s old apartment. ICYMI, Jen Aniston, (please, please, please can we not wheel out the whole 'Poor Jen' thing again now Ange and Brad are married? I think she's fine) was on Jimmy Kimmel and agreed to act out some of Jimmy’s Friends fan fiction that he wrote back in the day. Jimmy even built a replica of the whole Monica and Rachel kitchen. Then, just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Monica showed up and then Phoebe popped her head in, too. All the whil,e Jen looked like she wanted to kill Jimmy dead. And TBH, by the time he got the ladies chanting I'll Be There For You lyrics, we kind of did too.
Nevertheless, the whole thing was deeply stirring. I mean, be still our teenage beating hearts. One minute of footage and we were filled with a longing we never knew a sitcom was capable of conjuring up. In fact, it got us to thinking – if Friends WAS still going, where would the gang be now? Here’s what we imagine.

Joey
It all gets a bit convoluted if you include what happened on Matt Le Blanc's short-lived follow up sitcom Joey (swiftly cancelled after two seasons), so we’re not going to. Anyways, in our imagination after Joey got fired from Days Of Our Lives for snogging the intern again (turns out people aren’t so chilled about stuff like that in 2014) he moved into the special 'Joey room' in Monica and Chandler’s Westchester home for a bit until he found another job. Weeks turned into months, and months into years and now Joey spends his time coaching the local Little League team and expanding his waistline with his daily Meatball Marinara sub from Subway (it's the only sandwich shop they have this far out of New York).
Chandler
Mad Men had a big impact on the modern-day advertising scene in New York and Chandler was finally forced to stop drinking mocktails with a funny straw and move onto the whiskey. The effect on Chandler’s cool factor was almost immediate. No longer did co-workers laugh behind his back, no longer was he the butt of all his ‘friends’ jokes, no longer did he sing show tunes in the bath. Chandler (or ‘Chase’ as he’s now known) now spends his evenings flirting with confused 20-somethings and staring pensively into his never-empty highball glass before catching the last train back to the suburbs and to family life.
Rachel
It’s not like Rachel REGRETS the whole not going to Paris thing, it’s just that 10 years on as she finds herself driving Emma and Michael (after Michael Crichton – apparently something to do with Jurassic Park – it was Ross’s choice) to karate and ballet before heading to her job as head of ‘fashion’ at a major supermarket chain (it was closer to the family's adopted suburban home), she can’t help but think about the charming apartment in Faubourg Saint-Honoré she might be reclining in at that very moment had she taken the Louis Vuitton job. I mean Nicolas Ghesquiére on line one and a hot French man is great and all but getting off that damn plane was almost definitely the correct thing to do…. Right???
Phoebe
Phoebe hit the ground running when the health-food revolution came around and, spurred on by Mike’s lawyer knowledge, launched a range of ‘activated’ almonds that have been selling in Whole Foods like hotcakes. Plus, you know, since cats are kind of the world's biggest commodities right now (thanks internet!) can you imagine royalties she receives from one YouTube play of an old recording of Smelly Cat? I mean it could buy Monica and Chandler’s old apartment 10 times over.
Ross
Ross, well Ross is pretty much the same. Luckily, he and Rachel are still lobsters. Unluckily for him, Emma and Michael seem to take more after Rachel so know nothing of the stigma of being the school’s social outcasts like Ross had secretly hoped. Ross took Michael to the Natural History Museum once but Michael was more interested in wedgie-ing some kid in glasses rather than learning about the Cretaceous Period. Ben, now 19, and a sophmore at NYU, occasionally calls his old man to shoot the breeze but, thanks to Carol and Susan's late adoption of Tiger Parenting, he's not allowed to get the train out of the city by himself to come and visit.

Monica
Despite never owning a computer throughout her 20s and 30s, Monica made use of all that extra time she had once the twins started school to start up her Mummy Blog OrganisedFun.com, which brings together Monica’s three biggest loves: cooking, cleaning and being a mum. Also an avid Pinterester, Monica has been headhunted by their CEO to be a brand ambassador thanks to the sheer number of pins she achieves in one day (currently averaging 3,000). With Chandler working such late nights, it's pretty cool she's got her own thing going on.
