The events of recent months have set the bar very low for our expectations of humanity. With war raging, children massacred at pop concerts, ugly and divisive politics across the world, sometimes it feels like it would take a saint to see the goodness in the world.
Mr Rogers was a much-loved TV presenter who lived in a fictional neighbourhood. He used his platform for good, and to help children feel safe, secure and confident. Even when we're adults we need reassurance, and Mr Fred Rogers' words are a reminder that being good can be as simple and as complicated as letting go of a grudge or going easy on ourselves and the people around us.
Some of his quotes have particularly resonated with people in the wake of the Manchester bombing and began trending on Twitter, so we thought we'd some of his best quotes in one place. Enjoy.
