We thought Mondays were depressing enough without the news of beauty pageant body shaming over the weekend...
Gorgeous pageant contestant Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir – Miss Iceland 2015 and member of the Icelandic national athletics team – was told by idiot owner of Miss Grand International beauty contest that she needed to shed some weight before Tuesday’s final in Las Vegas. A tool of the highest order.
Arna was gifted these pearls of “advice” by Thai TV presenter Nawat Itsaragrisil who wanted to impart his wisdom because he, get this, liked her! How generous of him, right?
'Stop eating breakfast, eat just salad for lunch and drink water every evening until the contest.'
This joker actually wants her to give up her Coco Pops! Besides the obvious absurdity of a woman being told what to do with her own body, Itsaragrisil clearly hasn’t ever learnt that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
According to the contest site, 'the advocacy and mission of Miss Grand International beauty pageant are committed to spread the message of happiness.'
In our books, no world involving the absence of red wine and breakfast cereal can ever equal true happiness. But Arna being the true sassy lady that she is responded to the douchebag comments with the best mic drop message possible.
'My shoulders are a bit broader than the other girls’ but that is because I was a member of the Icelandic national athletics team and I am proud of that.
'If the owner of the contest really wants me to lose weight and doesn’t like me the way I am, then he doesn’t deserve to have me in the top 10.'
We totally imagine her to be defiantly devouring a Big Mac in the airport departures lounge as she said this.
