If you're looking for a singer to provide an anthem for a movie about the 'Free The Nipple' movement, there's one obvious choice. No we're not talking about Rihanna. According to Variety, Miley Cyrus has recorded a cover of Melanie Safka’s “Look What They’ve Done to My Song, Ma” for the closing credits of the upcoming movie Free The Nipple.

The creators of the hashtag #FreeTheNipple have turned directors creating a film about their viral feminist movement, which takes on the laws in the US which make it illegal to show breasts in public. Miley Cyrus was one of the high profile stars (including Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and Lena Dunham) who tweeted the #FreeTheNipple message.

According to Variety Miley recorded her cover in only two takes back in August. The director and founder of the Free The Nipple movement Lina Esco told* Variety* of her track: “It’s more rock ‘n’ roll. It’s very Johnny Cash. Her voice is so raw, and the song is so raw.”

The trailer for the movie has just been released. Lina started working on the film when she created the campaign and it took six weeks to film on the streets of New York. They faced problems from the police trying to stop topless scenes being filmed in public. Esco told Variety: “I’m making a movie called ‘Free the Nipple,’ and I can’t show boobs. I had to go and steal the shots. We went and mapped out all the locations, rehearsed with clothes on and did it all in one take.”
