It’s a dilemma many of us have had to face: that awkward phase around 3 or 4 weeks after you’ve taken the plunge and gone for a gorgeous gamine crop. All of a sudden, your mane doesn’t look so, well, choppy, your style has lost its definition and things are looking a little bit scruffy. What’s more, you’re not even sure you really like said cropped hair-do and are more than ready to welcome back your longer locks… Sound familiar, Miley Cyrus?

In an interview with girl pal Kelly Osbourne on *E!’s Fashion Police *only yesterday, Miley admitted that she wants her long hair back and is desperate to hurry up the process. The 20-year-old songstress confessed, “I’m secretly tugging on it every night and taking (hair-growth supplement) Viviscal. But, I’m going to rock it while I have it.”

Top 5 Tips For Miley Cyrus As She Grows Out Her Crop And Returns To Longer Locks

Since ditching her Disney-princess hair back in August 2012, opting instead for a punky, short blonde haircut, Miss Cyrus has indeed rocked her pixie cut in a variety of styles - from the punk Mohawk she pulled off at the 2013 Met Gala back in May to the blonde buzz-cut for her birthday back in November, it’s safe to say Miley is quite the pixie style chameleon!

However, it seems as if a whole new hair phase is lined up for the starlet as it’s clear she is now making a conscious effort to grow out her cropped look. In fact, last night, Miley tweeted a photo of herself sporting a set of perky pigtails (see above), suggesting she really is ready to embrace some longer hairstyles.

Alas, growing out a pixie crop isn’t easy - the likes of Carey Mulligan and Emma Watson have been there, done that, and with style, too. As celebrity hairdresser Richard Ward explains, the growing-out stage of a cropped hairstyle can look both stunning and versatile - try tucking it behind your ears as it grows or wear a long, shaggy fringe. Top Tips For Growing Our Your Crop

1. Hair Accessories- Alice bands, pretty pins and clips all look great on shorter hairstyles and are a great way to keep hair off the face. Team Grazia beauty harbour an unhealthy obsession with Accessorize and their amazing hair accessories- with everything from barettes to vintage-esque combs, there’s something for everyone here.

2. Keep Trimming- It might sound counter-intuitive, but regular cuts will keep your mane in tip-top shape and will actually encourage growth through the removal of dead, split ends.

3. Pop A Pill- Like Miley, we’re big fans of hair-boosting vitamin supplement Viviscal, £49.95. Be patient, though, as results usually can’t be seen for around 2 months.

4. Condition- Whilst growing your mane, it’s imperative you treat it with the upmost care. Try not to brush when wet (arm yourself with a Tangle Teezer to minimise damage) and treat your tresses to a deep-conditioning treatment at least once a week. Try Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask, £24.75.

5. Eat Right- You’ve heard it a million times before, but you really *are *what you eat, so stock up your fridge with plenty of good fats like salmon and walnuts, as well as vitamin-rich vegetables like sweet potatoes and spinach. Rapunzel-esque locks will be yours before you know it!
