Michelle Obama Has A Message For All The Female Trump Voters Out There

It’s almost been a year since Michelle and Barack left the Whitehouse following that famous, or perhaps infamous, presidential election. In the past few months she’s taken a step back from the public eye, however, Mrs Obama made an appearance for a question and answer session at a conference in Boston yesterday.

She spoke about her family, the upcoming book that she’s currently writing, last year’s election and even Beyonce’s Lemonade. Michelle Obama publically backed Hillary Clinton during the election campaign, along with the support of her husband. She told the audience in Boston that ‘anyone woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against her own voice’.

She went on to add ‘what does it mean for us as women that we look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, that guy, he's better for me, his voice is more true to me. Well, to me that just says you don't like your voice. You like the thing you're told to like.’ Of course, it goes without saying that men who voted for Trump are no less off the hook but there's a horrid irony in the fact that women who voted for him will have directly impacted the lives of other women as well as the progress of conversations around gender equality.

This isn’t the first time that Michelle Obama has spoken her mind when it comes to President Trump. Back during the campaign period, Obama spoke about how she felt towards Trump’s certain comments about the way he treats women. ‘I can’t stop thinking about this. It has shaken me to the core in a way I could not have predicted’.

Despite her criticisms of Trump, Michelle explained that her and Barack both want the President to succeed. ‘We want the sitting President to be successful because we live in this country. He is our commander in chief, he was voted in.’

She mentioned that her thoughts on the election are some of the ideas ‘rolling around in her head’ as she begins to write her upcoming book, and said it’s the first time in 10 years that she can ‘think back to what it all meant’.

When pushed for her favourite song from Beyonce’s Lemonade, Love Drought was the former First Lady’s answer.
