In a horrific story of Facebook-oversharing-gone-wrong, a 16-year-old girl killed her best friend after she had uploaded naked photos of the pair to the social network.
Erandy Elizabeth Gutierrez allegedly stabbed best friend Anel Baez 65 times in the back after she found the photos on Facebook. Before killing her, she tweeted: 'It may seem that I am very calm, but in my head I have killed you at least three times.'
Anel, a typical teenager who was a fan of One Direction and Twilight, didn't take this – or Erandy's threat to 'bury' her – very seriously, though, so invited her over to her place in Guamuchil, Mexico, to make up.
But Erandy's threats were very real. According to Mexican news site* Notus*, when she told Anel she was going to the bathroom, she actually went to the kitchen to grab the knife which she then used against her best friend. She then tried to clean the blood from herself and the weapon, attempting to cover up her involvement in the murder.
Erandy even attended the funeral – that, in fact, is where police arrested her. Other children at the school they both attended – children who grieved with Erandy at Anel's funeral – are being offered counselling. Juan Eulogio War Liera, a local rector is quoted by site Cafe Negro as saying: 'In this community I want to tell you you are not alone, we share your pain and anger and can add efforts to overcome the bitter moment. Unity in the family is a way to preserve peace, values, tranquility and have a better world.'
Police are expected to charge Erandy in the next few days, and if she is convicted she could face seven years in prison. Yeesh.
