Police in Dorset have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after the body of a 25-year-old woman was found at Bestival over the weekend.

Louella Michie was found dead in the early hours of Monday morning in a wooded area on the edge of the festival site. Police were called to the area around 1:00 AM after reports of concern about Michie’s welfare.

Michie was the daughter of Holby City star John Michie, who has told the Sun that his daughter's death was a 'tragic accident'.

He said: 'We’ve lost our angel. It’s not murder - they were friends. It was just a tragic mistake, a tragic accident.'

Police are currently holding a 28-year-old man on suspicion of Michie’s murder. Police told the Guardian this will 'enable officers to conduct an interview under caution to help establish the full circumstances'.

A post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

DCI Sarah Derbyshire said: 'Inquiries are now under way to establish how she died. A postmortem examination will be carried out in due course and this should give us more of an indication as to the cause of her death.'

John Michie plays Guy Self in the BBC’s Holby City show. His agent said: ‘John and his wife Carol ask that the privacy of their family be respected at this traumatic time.’

Rob da Bank, Bestival’s founder, tweeted a link to the festival’s statement on the incident. The statement

: 'The team at Bestival are devastated to hear about this tragic news. We continue to support the police in their ongoing investigation and our thoughts and prayers are with all the woman’s family and friends.'

This was the first year that the festival was held on the Lulworth Estate in Dorset after it moved there from the Isle of Wight. This year's festival included performances by the Pet Shop Boys and the xx.
