Two teenagers, aged 13 and 16, have reached the summit of Mount Everest, with the 13-year-old becoming the youngest female to ever scale the giant mountain.

Thirteen-year-old Malavath Purna and 16-year-old Sadhanapalli Anand Kumar completed the 52-day expedition on Sunday, according to the Times Of India.

The pair were selected from a group of 150 young people in the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Educational Society, which had previously sent a group of nine kids on an expedition to the Indo-China border. Purna and Kumar were selected as the top two from this expedition and sent to climb Everest.

There is an unofficial moratorium on ascending the mountain after an avalanche in April killed 16 Nepalese sherpas. On Friday, Wang Jing became the first person to reach the top since the deadly avalanche and also became the first Chinese woman to ever conquer the peak.
