The internet (and well, the world in general) is full of stuff that's not always worth looking at. But the you get the chance to read about people who actively try and make the word a better place. Take for example Joshua Coombes. He's a hairstylist, and has decided to use his talents and skills to make a real change in people's lives.
After work in a salon he goes out on the streets of London and makes haircut for homeless people. He does it for free, off his own back, because he belives that it's the right thing to do.
Joshua posts the results on his Instagram feed @joshuacoombes. He also listens, and his ‘before and after’ pictures are captioned with a story of the person featured. I admit, it teared me up. His Instagram feed and the work he does reminds us that people who often get ignored or forgotten by society have important stories to tell. The pictures and the captions are eautiful and powerful.
If it wasn’t enough Joshua is a co-founder of DoSomethingForNothing- ‘global, goodwill movement’ with a pretty strong message:
'Everyone has the power to #DoSomethingForNothing. We’re not raising awareness, we’re raising compassion. We’re mobilising people globally to love on their communities. If everyone, in every city, did one thing for nothing, we could change the world.’
There are a lot of negative messages out there at the moment, so this feels like exactly like the sort of thing we need to see more of . Go see his work and maybe you can #DoSomethingForNothing?
