Disney, you're spoiling us. Not only are we going to be treated to a remake of Beauty and the Beast and a Frozen Sequel this year - now there's a new Lion King film in the works.
If, like this writer, you sobbed in the cinema when Mufasa died, this news will fill your heart with joy and give you a hefty dose of nostalgia. But before you get too excited, Disney have revealed the new movie is only going to be on the Disney Junior on TV. Which means it's probably a bit too young for us to get this excited about, but hey!
*The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar *will follow Simba and Nala's second-born son, Kion, who leads a military guard for the pride lands, alongside a cheetah, hippo, and a honey badger.
Timon and Pumbaa will still be in the show, and Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union are down to play grown-up Simba and Nala. Mufasa is also set to make an appearance, according to the cast list.
The Lion King, which was released a whopping 21 years ago, has already had two sequels – The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride in 1998 and The Lion King 1½ in 2004.
