This is why we can't have nice things.
Once upon a time, many moons ago in 2015, an amusing phenomenon occured where a woman purchased a dress, took a picture of it and, by some trick of exposure or light or whatever, some people saw the dress as blue and black, others saw it as gold and white. It was a big deal. Celebrities got involved, families broke up over it, there were riots in the street. Not really, but it was a big deal.
Since then, there have been many attempts by the internet to recreate the furor of the VERY EXCITING DAY that was February 27th 2015 and none have succeeded because, well, terrible, world-changing events have happened in that time which make an argument over a dress seem futile and because, we're so glued to the internet, we're beyond jaded. Ooh, you saw a colour changing dress on the internet? Whatever, I saw a plane full of people crashing into a fiery explosion in front of my very eyes on the internet. And I didn't even have to look very hard. It was in gif form on the top of the Daily Mail homepage on Monday.
Jaded.
In the past two days, there have been two really quite good attempts to out-do the dress that seem quite sweet in their naivete.
The first is the are these legs covered in oil-or-white-paint.
I'm gonna go with 'white paint' on account of the white paint markers that are also in the picture.
And next up... is this Bill-Murray-or-Tom-Hanks.
It's from the
Facebook page. And it's Bill Murray.
Does it matter? Probably not. Was that a mildly enjoyable ten seconds for you there? Meh.
C'mon internet, you're going to have to try harder than that to distract us from the total abject lunacy that is 2016.
