You’ve probably got the memo by now but, just in case you missed it, witchcraft is back. From campus witches fighting sexism in Turkey to modern covens in Yorkshire, and wider mysticore trends, it seems that an increasing number of us are turning to witchcraft, mysticism and the occult to conjure are dreams into reality and ward off that which we fear.

If you needed more confirmation that witchcraft is going mainstream once again then cast your eyes over Lana del Rey’s Twitter.

The singer, it seems, was taking part in a mass magic ritual against Donald Trump on Friday and encouraging her 6.22 million followers to do the same.

The spell which Lana was taking part of was a mass ‘binding spell’ held by witches around the world on the waning crescent moon. According to the

it’s going to be held at midnight to coincide with every waning crescent moon from now on until the President is removed from office.

A binding spell is a spell designed to restrain someone metaphysically and prevent them from doing something. Often it is cast to prevent them from causing harm. It’s one of the oldest spells in the book.

All you need to take part in future collective binding spells are the following ingredients:

• Unflattering photo of Trump (small); see below for one you can print

• Tower tarot card (from any deck)

• Tiny stub of an orange candle (cheap via Amazon)

• Pin or small nail (to inscribe candle)

• White candle (any size), representing the element of Fire

• Small bowl of water, representing elemental Water

• Small bowl of salt, representing elemental Earth

• Feather (any), representing the element of Air

• Matches or lighter

• Ashtray or dish of sand

You can find details of exactly what to do with those ingredients here.
