I don’t care what anyone says – politics is cool.
Jeremy Corbyn proves once again, that he’s the coolest leader on the block with a one day music festival in the summer.
The announcement comes the year after the Labour leader opened for hip-hop group Run the Jewels on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury festival in 2017. His (now iconic) speech roused the hearts of the young and old alike, saying:
‘We’re demanding and achieving something very different in our society and in our lives. What festivals are about, is coming together.’
So, what can we expect from him this summer?
On Saturday 16th June, supporters will gather at White Hart Lane Recreation Ground. The festival promises ‘incredible names from music, literature and politics to bring together an incredible movement.’
The first few names on the line-up have been announced. They include singer/songwriter Rae Morris, London based pop rock band The Magic Numbers and 2014 The Voice winner, Jermain Jackman.
The musical artists are joined non-other by Jeremy Corbyn himself. As well as Shadow Secretary of State for International Development and ex Junior Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, Kate Osamor.
Also heading the bill is super socialist and Corbyn’s best mate, John McDonnell. Most notable for his role as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, you can be sure that his speech will turn heads.
It’s also been announced that the organisation The World Transformed will have a presence at the festival. The organisation is known for coordinating political events, particularly a week- long festival alongside the Labour Party conference in Brighton of September last year.
It’s going to be a big one – for more info, updates and sign ups, click here
Perhaps Labour Live will be added to this list of mega festivals?
