Alien Outfitters, a website based in North Carolina, is selling knives and knuckle dusters marketed at young women.
The brand, which at the time of writing has over 443,000 followers on Instagram, ships knives such as the ‘original mermaid blade,’ ‘pink comb knife’ and fanciful rainbow blade' - which is currently in the sale at £17.57 - to anywhere in the world.
The Telegraph has been investigating the knives, which it says are illegally imported from the US into the UK, the publication also reported the site sold knives disguised as lipsticks, these items seem to have been removed from the site.
When visiting the ‘knives’ drop down on the Alien Outfitter’s menu the site checks if you’re over 18, once you’ve confirmed that you are with the click of a button, you are free to browse a selection of ‘defense kitty key chains’ that look like cat ears, but are blades, and 3 inch knives – some disguised as combs, some not disguised at all.
‘All knives are intended for decorative and ornemental purposes,’ reads the disclaimer at the top of the knife tab.
‘Customers are held responsible to follow their state laws when purchasing. Find your knife laws HERE,’ it continues, with a link to a site which details knife laws across the US.

Just under that disclaimer is a YouTube video ‘Murda She Wrote [A Fashion Film by AlienOutfitters.com] which sees two women get out of a car and look through a suitcase of weapons from the site, suffocate a man with a plastic bag and appear to murder him with an axe before putting his body in a bin bag and washing the blood away.
The Telegraph interviewed a customer of the site who had bought a knife for his wife; ‘It was never my idea that she should stick it into her handbag and take it out - it was more of an interesting trinket,’ he told the publication.
‘I bought it from Alien Outfitters in the US and to be honest the import taxes cost more than the knife itself. I bought one for a friend as well and I think they are being freely imported into the country - it’s not illegal or anything.’
The online store also sells underwear, adult toys, pipes, and pins and badges which read; ‘pleasure beyond measure,’ ‘old guys rule’ and ‘submissive.’
Instagram users have been reporting and blocking posts from Alien Outfitters, a spokeperson told The Telegraph; ‘Illegal activity is not allowed on Instagram. Our guidelines clearly state that people must always follow the law when offering to sell or buy goods.
‘People can report content they think is against our community guidelines using our in-app tools.’
